I am so sad because this is my blog post where I am signing off. This is my last blog post ever. : ( over this year, I have learned so much. I learned about potential and kinetic energy, Lake Erie's underwater organisms, cicadas, and so much more. I had such a great 5th grade year and if I up had to go back and go through a year of school again, it would be this year.

In this investigation I think that with the graduated cylinder that has the most of each will be bigger and vise versa.
When we did the investigation, the one that had the 5 mm 12 cm then it went up a little for the one with 10 mm ( 13.5 cm) and then for the one with 15, it went down. I was not expecting these results.

In science class we are doing a way of learning for the last 2 weeks of school. It is called IDL. IDL stands for interest driven learning which means we have different things we could learn and create a project about. I am doing photo engineering where we take pictures and think of ways we can make it better. I chose this project because I like to make new things to make our lives easier, so I thought this would be a good project for me. I feel that this project went great for me. Everything went according to plan and it did not take me that long. I found that I could animate part of my presentation to make it look better. The only struggle I faced was I had a little trouble figuring out what to engineer. I learned that if people want a better product, they have to know how it works. I had to explain how my new product works. I would make more slides in my presentation. I loved doing this project.

Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. The things that make up matter are atom molecules. The things that make up atoms are protons and neutrons. Atoms are very, very small. All around the atoms are electrons that zip around the protons and neutrons. There are also things called elements. Elements are things made of just one atom. There are three states of matter; solid (ice), liquid (water), and gas ( steam). There are things called conductors, which are things that het can pass through easily. There is also something called conductivity. Conductivity is when heat passes through something. There are also things called physical and chemical changes. Physical changes happen when you do something like brake a pencil, it is still a pencil, just broken in half. Chemical changes happen when I burn the pencil.

Light can be a very amazing thing. There are different types of light, though. There is an artificial light source, such as a spotlight. Artificial light is when matter gives off energy in the form of light rays. There are also different types of artificial light. There is: Heating something up until it produces light, such as a candle, and there is also running an electric current through a solid, such as a light bulb. The other type of light is natural sources, such as the sun.
When visible light hits objects, most of it bounces off. Then, your eyes catch the reflected light and that is how you see. Light can act like a wave or a particle. Light travels very fast........ 300 million meters per second! Light travels in a straight path until it hits an object, then it changes direction, just like a mirror. When light travels from one transparent material to another, it bends or refracts. It refracts because light travels through different objects at different speeds. This is how a prism works, also refracting different wavelengths of light at different angles.
These were many important facts about light. I hope you enjoyed!
